Key Characteristics: Mulberry is a tree that bears purple fruit. Leaves are alternately arranged with a toothed margin. The leaves are palmately veined in that three major veins eminate from the petiole. Leaves can be one, two or three lobed, or without lobes. The same tree can bear all four types of leaves.
