Lonicera
Key Characteristics: On campus, shrubs with opposite leaves. Leaves have entire margins. All are very similar. Some are planted as ornamental (Lonicera x Bella), but most are escaped cultivars and hybrids between cultivars, and distinguishing between them (even informally) is beyond the scope of this outline. If present, note the red (or orange) berries found in the axis of the leaves and the abnormal growth called witch's broom due to the effect of an aphid introduce in an attempt to control these weedy plants.
