Endomycorrhizae

• also called vesicular-arbuscular mycorrhizae (VAM)

• fungus does not form a sheath around the roots--fungus penetrates the cortical cells, but does not penetrate the cell membrane

• fungus is a member of Zygomycota

• more common than ectomycorrhizae
