I. Tools for Botany Educators
Multimedia Toolkit for Educators in the Plant Sciences - Second edition
All our materials fit on one disk for the first edition of Multimedia Toolkit for Educators in the Plant Sciences. Now the collection has been expanded. The second edition includes more images, many of higher resolution, and more digital movies, and everything won't fit on one disc. We now produce the work in two volumes. Both volumes emcompass 32 different teaching modules including image and movie files that can be freely copied, web lessons, and lab topics that can be copied rewtitten and freely distributed for your course.

Volume I- Basic Biological Principles and Plant Structure
Volume I includes teaching modules for twenty different teaching themes. Each module consists of a reference collection of images, a web lesson, and a lab topic. Some modules include digital movies. Plant Morphology includes an Authorware-based key to the common trees of Madison, Wisconsin. Meiosis includes an Authorware-based lesson.

The Teaching Greenhouse
A reference for instructors, lab managers and greenhouse directories on useful plants for instruction. What they are, how they are useful, and how to grow them. Requires Windows 95 or better, or MacOS 7.6 or better. The work is available for $20.00.
II. Teaching/Reference Collections
The two titles below consist of collections of JPEG-formatted image files. Images may be copied for Power Point presentations, classroom hand outs, or for the development of computer-mediated interactions such as pictorial keys:
Photo Atlas of the Vascular Plants
This work was developed in partnership with Andrews University Press and Dr. Dennis Woodland, and is also included with Dr. Woodland's Systematics Text, Contemporary Plant Systematics. Over 4,600 images of vascular plants from over 260 families are included. Represents the pooled teaching collections of three botany professors with additional contributions from many others. There is no greater value on the market for $20.00. Requires Windows 95 or better, or MacOS 7.6 or better.
Photo Atlas of Plants
Like Photo Atlas of Vascular Plants, this is a reference collection of botanical diversity. The scope here is greater. It includes non-vascular plants and other organisms studied by botanists (based on the ninteenth century definition of a plant). These materials were developed for our introductory course, general botany, and includes both images and digital movies. A considerable collection of anatomical images are included of the vascular plants. This is an appropriate choice for supplemental materials for any introductory plant-science course. We will provide a discounted price of $15.00 if you adopt the work for your course (contact Mike Clayton for details). Images may be used at the point of instruction: they may be copied to Power Point presentations or used to create illustrations for the laboratory. Purchase of the cd does not grant rights to mass distribute images. If you seek materials for use in class handouts, for text materials, or for use on the web, please see Multimedia Toolkit for Educators in the Plant Sciences listed below. The cost of one copy is $20.00.
Pictorial Guide to the Common Woody Plants of the Northeastern United States - second printing
While the work includes the common species of the Northeast, it is also a valuable reference set for the Southeast and Midwest. The collection includes over 1,400 images from 114 different genera of vines, shrubs and trees. The work also includes an interactive pictorial guide to these plants, and a set of 60 "interactive twigs." These "twigs" are interactive in that the user can go from views of a whole winter twig to detailed views of leaf scars, cross sections and buds . It is a teaching resource developed for our undergraduates in Dr. Michael Adams' woody plant course which we make available to you. The cost for one copy is $20.00. If you choose the work for your course, the price is $16.00 a copy. Requires Windows95 or better, or MacOS 8.x or better.
