 Pachira quinata- Shaving-Brush Tree (Bombacaceae)

This tree is found in the subtropical deciduous forests of Central America. Note the presence of trunk thorns so characteristic of these dry forests. What is their purpose you think? The Bombacaceae is a faimly typically showing compound leaves.
