 Sequoia sempervirens- Redwood (Taxodiaceae)

One of the world's largest evergreen, coniferous trees, yielding a durable timber. The redwood and its cousin, the giant sequoia (Sequoiadendron giganteum) are now restricted to northwest North America. Fossil evidence indicates a greater distribution in the northern hemisphere during Tertiary.
