This species is from the island of Sumatra (Indonesia), and the genus is found only in the Old World tropics. Though this plant's inflorescence is also similar in size, color, and odor to Dracontim, recent molecular evidence has confirmed that these genera are not closely related to one another. Note the striking similarities in the leaves of these two plants.
