Epidermis
Epidermis is the dermal tissue of the primary plant body. The epidermis of the shoot includes the basal cells of the epidermis, guard cells, and multicellular extensions called trichomes. In the shoot, the basal cells excrete a cuticle. In the root, the epidermis consists of the basal cells of the epidermis from which root hairs form.
